A well-known traditional Basque musician, Film Director and avid traveller. His passion for authenticity and tradition has led him to be a leading figure in the Basque Country and in the world of the Txalaparta (an improvised percussion instrument made using cider press boards). He can often be seen playing in festivals such as San Fermin in Pamplona, the Virgen Blanca in Vitoria and the Semana Grande in San Sebastian, as well as in many other acts and events. His latest creation is the B.S.O. Mugaritz documentary, a culinary – musical project made together with the much acclaimed chef, Andoni Aduritzdel of the Mugaritz Restaurant.
The cider-related origin of the Txalaparta and his love of good food and local Basque products, gradually sparked Felipe’s interest in cuisine and, more specifically, in the preparation of each product. Felipe considers that a knowledge of the origin of the main Basque products that have contributed to the success of Basque cuisine is just as important as enjoying a good meal.
